Harmful effects of fake ma
BSCK2. Dinh Thi Kim Lien, former Director of the Clinical Nutrition Center (Bach Mai Hospital) said that sweet potatoes, also known as ma ma ra, are a popular spice in food processing, helping to create umami (sweet meat). The main ingredient in starch is glutamate.
Many world health organizations such as WHO, UNESCO, FDA all consider sweet potatoes as safe, similar to salt, pepper, vinegar... The European Food Science Committee also confirmed that there is no evidence that sweet potatoes are harmful.
In Vietnam, sweet potatoes are allowed by the Ministry of Health to be used in food. However, this is not a nutrient, so it should be used reasonably, combining all other nutritional components when cooking.
"Sweets are a familiar spice in many families, but currently, fake sweets are appearing more and more, causing concern for consumers. This type of powder is often made from substances of unknown origin, which can cause symptoms such as headaches, nausea, allergies or a long-term impact on the liver and kidneys.
To recognize fake sweeteners, consumers should pay attention to the packaging, color and purity of the product. Real flour usually has even, transparent seeds, no foreign impurities. In addition, you should buy at reputable stores, avoid being greedy for cheap but buying poor quality goods, which is harmful to the health of the whole family", BSCK2. Dinh Thi Kim Lien recommends.
