The first case occurred on July 23 in Chanh Hung ward (old District 8). A mother went into labor and gave birth at home, the baby was born with purple skin, cardiac arrest, and apnea. The grandmother and the person who called the emergency were initially frightened and did not dare to approach the child. The coordinator of hotline 115 quickly reassured, instructed the inspection and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Thanks to remote support, she followed the instructions and gave the child a chance to live.
The two emergency teams arrived immediately afterwards to perform enhanced resuscitation, placed an intubation, and inhaled oxygen. The child gradually regained his health and was transferred to Children's Hospital 1, while the mother was taken to Tu Du Hospital. Obstetrics records show that the fetus used to have a umbilical cord wrapped around its neck, had little amniotic fluid and was scheduled to give birth two days before.
The second incident occurred on the morning of August 9 in Cat Lai ward (old Thu Duc city). The 31-week pregnant mother suddenly had a ruptured amniotic fluid and gave birth while waiting for an ambulance. The baby was born with purple skin and weak pulse. The family immediately received first aid instructions from hotline 115 and underwent cardiac surgery at home.
Two emergency teams from Saigon General Hospital and Le Van Thinh Hospital quickly arrived, grabbed umbilical cord, infused and transferred the mother and child to the specialist hospital. The child has a pulse back, is still weak in breathing and is being supported with oxygen at Children's Hospital 2.
