Muscle pull-ups and unexpected benefits of pickle juice

Drinking pickle juice can quickly reduce muscle cramps and menstrual cramps, thanks to Neurological Reflection and additional minerals.

Muscle pullbacks are sudden, unsupported contractions of a muscle group or muscle fibers, often causing pain and commonly in people who are physically active. Spasms caused by physical activity often occur suddenly, often associated with dehydration, excessive muscle use or lack of minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium, says Yasi Ansari, National Pressure Spokesperson of the Institute of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Recent research shows that pickle juice can help reduce cramps faster than the average filtered water of 49 seconds. However, blood tests show that this effect does not come from electrolyte or hydration supplementation, but because vinegar in pickle juice activates the nerve receptors in the mouth, sending signals to the brain, helping muscles dilate through mechanical nerve reflexes. The ingredients in vinegar can directly affect nerve reflex, thereby helping to relieve cramps faster, says Dr. Jonathan Purtell, a nutritionist at New York University.

The mechanism of the effect of pickle juice and menstrual cramps

In addition to muscle cramps, pickle juice can also help relieve menstrual cramps. Dr. Mary Adeli Lynn, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center, explains: During menstruation, sodium loss can lead to unsynchronized muscle contractions and increased pain. Supplementing electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium from pickle juice can help reduce uterine cramps."

Menstrual pain is mainly caused by prostaglandins a hormone-like substance that stimulate a cramped uterus, causing inflammation and pain. Ansari commented: The refractive errors caused by the vinegar activated in the throat can also help partially relieve menstrual cramps, although the mechanism is not completely the same as muscle cramps.

Notes when using pickle juice

Despite its benefits, pickle juice is rich in sodium, about 230ml provides 35% of the daily value. Ansari emphasizes: Skin water should not be used as a substitute for water or carbohydrates, especially for those who need to limit sodium. At the same time, pickle juice should only be used as a supportive measure, combined with a balanced diet and adequate hydration.

For people who are often active or have menstrual cramps, pickle juice is a convenient choice for quick pain relief, taking advantage of the necessary minerals and stimulating the nervous reflex to calm the muscles. However, remember, it is important to use it in moderation and combine it with a healthy diet.
