On July 24, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong newspaper, the leader of Dong Nai Children's Hospital said that the hospital had just saved a baby boy N.C.V (14 months old, residing in Nhon Trach Ward, Dong Nai City) who was bitten by 20 yellow bees while playing in the park.
Accordingly, at the beginning of July 2026, the baby and his parents went to play in the park when suddenly the whole family was attacked by a flock of yellow bees. The baby boy suffered about 20 stab wounds on his head, face and arm.
The baby's parents also had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment, but the condition was milder and they were discharged in a few days.
At the time of admission, the baby was still awake, vital signs were stable. But just a few hours later, consciousness gradually became faint, pulse was fast, liver enzymes skyrocketed thousands of times higher than normal (normal liver enzymes < 40 U/L). The baby was diagnosed with yellow bee venom poisoning, multiple organ damage including liver, kidney, lung, hemolytic and muscle destruction.
The baby was quickly transferred to the Intensive Care - Anti-poison Department, Dong Nai Children's Hospital.
Right that night, doctors and nurses quickly conducted continuous blood filtration to remove toxins, inflammatory mediators and support the damaged liver and kidneys, along with advanced resuscitation measures such as: mechanical ventilation, anti-cerebral edema; vasopressure, fluid replenishment to raise blood pressure; N-Acetylcysteine infusion to protect the liver.
After 44 hours of continuous blood filtration and 5 days of treatment, the baby gradually woke up, organ function improved day by day, and was discharged from the ventilator.
Currently, the baby has recovered almost completely, organ functions have returned to normal and he has been discharged from the hospital.
