On the evening of October 3, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, visited and congratulated the Da Nang Hospital team after the hospital had just performed the first liver transplant.
At the visit and congratulation, Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of Da Nang Hospital, said that on August 28, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 2760/QD-BYT, recognizing Da Nang Hospital as a medical facility qualified to perform the technique of collecting and transplanting liver from living donors and brain-dead donors.
This is an important milestone, affirming the professional capacity as well as the serious and methodical preparation of the hospital in the past time.
Just over a month after this decision, under the direct technical transfer from the 108 Central Military Hospital, the liver transplant team of Da Nang Hospital coordinated to successfully perform the first liver transplant from a living donor.
The liver donor was the wife who donated part of her liver to save her husband's life.
The surgery went smoothly, conducted under the direct direction of the Board of Directors of the two hospitals and the professional guidance of leading experts from the 108 Central Military Hospital.
To prepare for this first liver transplant, from 2022 to 2024, Da Nang Hospital has sent 46 staff from 12 professional teams to participate in in intensive training on liver cutting and transplantation techniques at the 108 Central Military Hospital.
In 2025, the hospital will send 7 more teams to participate in enhanced and specialized training courses to improve skills and completely master complex liver transplant techniques.

Previously, on February 27, 2024, Da Nang City officially put into operation the Organ Transplant and Stem Cell Transplant Center. The center is built modernly, with a system of operating rooms, organ transplant areas and stem cell transplant areas that meet international standards, contributing to improving treatment quality, expanding the ability to apply advanced medical techniques to serve people's health care.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Thanh, 108 Central Military Hospital, who directly trained and transferred liver transplant techniques to Da Nang Hospital, said that through this transplant, Da Nang Hospital is also considered one of the first hospitals outside the Central level to have liver transplant techniques transferred.
This technique as well as today's surgery mark a turning point in the implementation of very special and very in-depth techniques to be able to treat people in the area, without having to go far.
At Da Nang Hospital, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, expressed his joy and emotion at the historical milestone of the hospital, and at the same time appreciated the dedicated and effective support of the 108 Military Central Hospital in the liver transplant as well as the training process and technical transfer to Da Nang in the past time.
Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that this result is the "sweet fruit" of perseverance and close coordination; hoping that high-tech products, especially from the 108 Central Military Hospital, will continue to be transferred so that people in the Central region can enjoy modern medical achievements.
The leaders of Da Nang City said that the city will continue to accompany, invest in equipment, and policies for training high-quality human resources, creating a foundation for sustainable development. At the same time, he believes that Da Nang Hospital will increasingly affirm its reputation, not only in Da Nang but also in the health sector nationwide.
