On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 – February 27, 2026), the Central Lung Hospital organized a press meeting program, announcing outstanding achievements in the field of lung transplantation and specialized techniques, marking a breakthrough development of Vietnam's respiratory specialty.
In 2025, the Central Lung Hospital achieved many comprehensive results in medical examination and treatment, training, scientific research and tuyến direction, continuing to affirm its position as the leading specialized hospital at the highest tuyến for lung and tuberculosis diseases. These are the imprints affirming that the Central Lung Hospital has truly mastered high technology in diagnosing and treating lung diseases.
Dr. Dinh Van Luong - Director of the Central Lung Hospital said: In the field of lung transplantation - the pinnacle technique of modern medicine - the Hospital has successfully performed 8 lung transplants, exceeding the target assigned by the Prime Minister at the beginning of 2025.

Most notably, in less than 2 months of the end of 2025, the Hospital performed 5 lung transplants, including: 2 transplants on the same day; 3 consecutive transplants within 7 days; the transplant was performed on the last day of 2025.
This series of successes affirms the ability to master high techniques, the ability to organize inter-hospital coordination and the readiness to operate the Regional Lung Transplant Center in the coming time.
Starting 2026, continuing the lung transplant miracle, right on the night of the 6th, early morning of the 7th day of Tet Binh Ngo 2026, the Hospital successfully performed the first lung transplant of the new year.
The patient is currently stable and recovering well. To date, the total number of successful lung transplants at the Hospital has reached 13 cases, with a high post-transplant survival rate, close to leading lung transplant centers in the region and the world" - Dr. Dinh Van Luong shared.
The transplants are performed according to the highest professional standards of UCSF Medical Center (USA), with synchronous coordination between medical staff: Central Lung Hospital, E Hospital, National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, Central Military Hospital 108, Bach Mai Hospital, Ba Ria General Hospital, Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, People's Hospital 115... and leading domestic and international experts - making lung transplantation a routine technique.
In parallel with lung transplantation, the Hospital continues to promote specialized techniques in the treatment of lung cancer, lung fungus and cell therapy. Cooperation and professional transfer activities with domestic and foreign units (USA, Japan...) continue to be strengthened, contributing to improving the quality of treatment and training.


The hospital has served more than 201,000 outpatient visits (an increase of 140% compared to the previous year) and inpatient treatment for nearly 58,000 patients.
Despite overload pressure, the Hospital still ensures absolute safety and shortens the average treatment day to 7.9 days. The Hospital has pioneered the successful implementation of electronic medical records in key departments, towards smart, paperless hospitals.
In the past year, the Hospital was honored to welcome Party and State leaders to visit and work; excellently completed its tasks at the Exhibition "80 years of Vietnamese Health - For People's Health"; and was awarded many noble awards such as the Third-class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and is the only unit under the Ministry of Health proposed to be awarded the Prime Minister's Emulation Flag in 2025.
