The essential fatty acids and anti-inflammatory compounds in olive oil help improve overall health, especially beneficial for the cardiovascular and liver systems.
Thanks to its high content of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, olive oil helps fight the harmful effects of free radicals. It can prevent fat accumulation in the liver, protect liver cells and limit excessive scarring in damaged tissue. In addition, olive oil also stimulates waste removal, helping to prevent liver diseases.
Lemon is also a beneficial ingredient for the liver. According to the Spanish Dietetic Fund (FEN), lemons contain high levels of vitamin C, flavonoids, a small amount of vitamin B and soluble fiber. Antioxidants in lemons help prevent cell damage. Many animal studies show that lemons can help protect the liver from conditions such as non-alcoholic fatty liver, cirrhosis or fibrosis.
Therefore, you can combine olive oil and lemon to create a drink that supports liver detoxification. The Spanish Dietetic Fund has also suggested a simple recipe for mixing lemon juice and oil as follows:
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil (30 g)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (10 ml)
How to do it:
Pour olive oil into a glass jar.
Add lemon juice and mix well.
Blend a spoonful of the mixture into a cup of warm water and drink on an empty stomach to aid digestion.
After that, eat breakfast as usual.
This mixture can be used 3-4 times, stored in the refrigerator.
