The Songwriting Contest on Tobacco Harm Prevention is open to all professional and non-professional musicians living and working in Vietnam, with no age restrictions.
Requirements for the content of the entries: Raising public awareness of the harmful effects of smoking and passive smoking and the regulations of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms (PCTH tobacco). Raising awareness of compliance with the regulations on smoking bans in places where smoking is prohibited according to the Law on PCTH tobacco.
Encourage and raise awareness among non-smokers to speak up and remind smokers not to smoke in prohibited areas. Call for smoking cessation and building a civilized, healthy, smoke-free life. Reflect on activities, movements, good examples and models in tobacco harm prevention.
The organizers of the contest do not limit the musical style, from youthful, modern, international to strong, heroic. However, the works must be new compositions, not participated in any other contests, not use remixed music or lyrics and have no disputes over copyright or authorship.
In addition, the entries must be songs with beautiful melodies, easy to listen to, easy to sing, easy to popularize, rich in emotions and musical aesthetics, and highly contagious; suitable for the fine traditions of the Vietnamese people; performed in all styles and genres of music; lyrics in Vietnamese, highly communal... and closely following the theme of the composition.
The Organizing Committee will not consider awards for works that copy or imitate the ideas, melodies, and lyrics of other domestic and foreign authors; works composed, staged, and performed using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
To evaluate and select quality works, the contest's Jury includes famous and prestigious musicians from the Vietnam Musicians Association, representatives of the Ministry of Health, and the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund.
The prize structure includes: 1 first prize worth 50 million VND, 2 second prizes worth 30 million VND each, 4 third prizes worth 20 million VND each, 8 consolation prizes worth 10 million VND each. In addition, there are 5 prizes for authors and co-authors with many entries, each prize worth 2 million VND.
The Jury will judge in 2 rounds: Preliminary round will select 50 works for the final round; Final round will select 20 works for the prize.
For the winning works, the Organizing Committee has the right to use the works for non-profit propaganda in activities to prevent and combat the harmful effects of tobacco.
