On December 24, news from the Department of Ears - Nose - throat (Khanh Hoa General Hospital) said that recently, the hospital recorded a patient being hospitalized with a condition of runny nose, prolonged nasal congestion, treated at many medical facilities but symptoms continued to recur and were not terminal.
At the hospital, through a nose endoscopy combined with a CT scan, doctors discovered a foreign object with a focus on the lining of the nose and the right nasal cavity.
The foreign object was partially buried in the lining, causing the nasal discharge to shift to the left. Medical history shows that since he was a child, the patient often had a runny nose and a foul smell.
This condition has lasted for many years but the cause has not been accurately diagnosed. To thoroughly treat the disease, doctors performed endoscopic surgery and removed the foreign object about 2cm in size.
After surgery, the patient's nasal decongestion was adjusted to improve the airway, helping the nose to be more airy. The patient's health is currently stable.
From the above case, doctors recommend that when a prolonged, recurring side runny nose appears, especially accompanied by odor, patients should not be subjective but need to go to a medical facility specializing in ENT for timely examination, diagnosis and treatment.
For young children, if a foreign object enters the nose but is not detected and treated early, it can cause inflammation, damage to the nasal structure, and even the foreign object becomes limped, leading to dangerous complications.
