At the memory health screening and focusing program held on August 5, Dr. Tran Cong Thang - Vietnam Association of Alzheimer's Diseases and cognitive disorders warned that more and more young people are facing the risk of cognitive decline due to prolonged stress and unhealthy lifestyles.
Stress, stress, overwork all directly affect the brain. These are factors that promote the process of neurodegeneration, causing "light forgetfulness" to progress to a medical condition and can lead to mental decline," said Dr. Thang.
Many young people misunderstand that youth is "infectious" with dementia. They also say that working hard helps the brain stay healthy. However, according to Dr. Thang, this is not true, because the brain is constantly overloaded, which will have a negative impact on memory and concentration function.
The Tnmindtest tool is a tool for assessing memory and concentration, digitized and developed by experts in the field of neurology and cognition. With this tool, people can proactively screen for early cognitive decline at home.
If the test results are below 75%, the test Taker may be at a mild cognitive decline and should be closely monitored. If it is above 85%, the test can be repeated after 6 months to a year, Dr. Thang explained.
According to the doctor, early screening can help 25% of cases that do not progress to dementia. For the remaining 75%, depending on the specific risk, patients need to change their lifestyle, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, control stress and, if necessary, go to a specialized medical facility for advice.
The important thing is timely detection. When you find yourself forgetful, less focused and this condition is getting worse, that is the time to screen to avoid missing prevention opportunities, Dr. Thang emphasized.
Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen - Deputy General Director of FPT Retail, and Executive Director of Long Chau Pharmacy System, said that the memory screening project was chosen by Long Chau to accompany because this is an open-ended public health issue. From her personal experience with Alzheimer's disease, she has found that many people, especially in remote areas, still think that "adversity" is a normal part of aging, without knowing that this is a manifestation of a disease that can be detected and intervened early.
We hope to take advantage of the pharmacy system and pharmaceutical team to bring the Tnmindtest screening tool closer to the community. This tool is easy to do at a pharmacy or through an online platform, especially suitable for young people facing stress and reduced concentration. All data from the program will be managed by the Alzheimer's Association and the Vietnam Association for cognitive Neurological Disorders, Ms. Quyen added.
