According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, currently, many medical facilities after arrangement have been quickly converted into the second facilities of major hospitals. For example, Phu My medical facility is oriented to develop into the second facility of Gia Dinh People's Hospital; the facility in Can Gio is assigned to Tu Du Hospital to support operations according to a general clinic model combined with specialties.
In addition, the city is also accelerating the renovation of many medical facilities to put them into use as soon as possible. The old District 10 Medical Center is being repaired to become a new facility of People's Hospital 115, expected to be put into operation in September. Similarly, Pham Ngoc Thach University Medical Hospital is also renovating its facility in the old District 3 to expand specialties and increase emergency capacity.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the city's health sector is gradually forming specialized medical clusters in Tan Kien, the central area and former Thu Duc city. At the same time, after expanding its boundaries, Ho Chi Minh City continues to plan specialized medical clusters in the former Ba Ria and Binh Duong areas, synchronously developing general hospitals, specialized hospitals, testing centers, training and scientific research.
The city's goal is to bring specialized medical techniques closer to the people, limit concentration in the central area, and build a modern, linked and sustainable health network throughout the area," Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung emphasized.

Taking advantage of redundant public offices after arrangement to develop the health system is a policy that Ho Chi Minh City is implementing very drastically. This is an important opportunity to improve medical examination and treatment capacity, expand operating space, improve infection control conditions, ensure patient safety and gradually improve the quality of health services.
Ho Chi Minh City currently not only takes care of the health of more than 14 million people in the area but also plays the role of the final-line health center of the Southern region with 22 first-class hospitals assigned by the Ministry of Health to direct the tuyến. Therefore, expanding the health system and reducing the burden on hospitals is an urgent requirement.
