During the peak summer season, the number of vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City going to tourist destinations increased sharply, causing traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to become crowded, and vehicles had to line up and move slowly.
According to records, at noon on June 13, the access road to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, vehicles lined up slowly, at times almost standing still. The congestion situation lasted from the expressway access road area to the Long Phuoc toll station area for about 10km.

In contrast to the direction out of Ho Chi Minh City, the direction from the expressway to Ho Chi Minh City recorded a clear situation, with easy traffic.

To reduce pressure on the expressway, the Traffic Police force deployed a plan to regulate and rotate the opening and closing points of the expressway at Phu Huu roundabout and the Mai Chi Tho - Vo Nguyen Giap intersection area. Many vehicles were instructed to change direction of traffic through National Highway 1 or National Highway 51 instead of continuing to wait to get on the expressway.

Notably, some drivers choose alternative routes such as Lien Phuong street, through The Global City urban area, to find access to the expressway. This increases traffic pressure on many inner-city routes in the area.
