DK1/11 Oil Rig military doctors rescue fishermen in distress at sea

DK1/11 rig - DK1 Battalion Region 2 Navy promptly rescued fishermen, affirming its role as a support for fishermen to reach out to sea and stick to the sea.

At 11:58 am on September 11, fishing vessel PY - 90963TS approached DK1/11 rig - DK1 Battalion Region 2 Navy to request emergency support for the distressed fisherman. The rig commander reported and with the permission of the Region 2 Command and the DK1 Battalion Command, deployed it to officers and soldiers; and at the same time sent a military medical team to support the fishing vessel to bring the fisherman to the rig for emergency treatment. The victim is Mr. Tran Chi Khuong (born in 1991, permanently residing in Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province).

According to initial information, at 4 am on the same day, fishing vessel PY - 90963TS captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong (born in 1994, permanently residing in Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province), and the owner of the fishing vessel, Mr. Nguyen Van Ky (born in 1965, from Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province) while fishing at coordinates 06042’N, 109054’E about 49 nautical miles north of DK1/11 rig, fisherman Tran Chi Khuong was hooked deep into his right calf by an Inox tuna hook with a diameter of 0.5 cm, length of 8 cm, about 12 cm from his ankle.

At 12:10 pm on the same day, platform officers and soldiers took the patient to the medical room, the patient was awake, only in pain, and had difficulty walking, requiring someone to help. The military doctor of DK1/11 platform conducted examination, injected anesthesia, cleaned the wound, performed surgery to remove the hook, stitched 4 stitches and provided antibiotics, cotton, bandages, gauze, pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and instructed fishermen to use and treat them.

By 3:50 pm on September 11, the patient's condition had completely stabilized, and the offshore platform officers and soldiers brought the patient down to the fishing boat to ensure safety. The fishing boat left the offshore platform and continued to fish according to plan.
