On March 30, DK1/11 rig (DK1 Battalion, Naval Region 2) said that it had promptly received and given first aid to a fisherman who encountered an accident while operating in the waters of Tu Chinh Cluster.
According to initial information, at 10:17 am on March 29, DK1/11 rig received a signal requesting support from fishing vessel BD 97863 TS, captained by Mr. To Van Duong (born 1969, residing in Hoai Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province).
The ship is operating in the South - Southeast area of the oil rig, about 2 nautical miles away, with a crew member showing abnormal signs of health.
Immediately after receiving the information, DK1/11 rig reported to superiors, and urgently deployed a plan to support and guide fishing boats to approach the dock to organize inspection and rescue.
At 10:40 am, the fishing boat had docked at the oil rig. The military medical team quickly went down to the ship to check and identified the victim as Mr. La Van Tru (born in 1966, residing in Hoai Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province). The patient showed signs of crooked mouth, unable to speak, unable to open his eyes, and weak limbs.
Military medical forces used stretchers, coordinated to lift the patient to the oil rig to perform first aid. Through initial examination, the patient had a blood pressure index of 131/71 mmHg, pulse 75 beats/minute, temperature 36.2°C; no fever but paralysis of movement, unable to communicate verbally, although still aware of the surroundings.
Initial assessment, the Military Medical Department determined that the patient had signs of stroke. Due to limited equipment conditions at the rig, the unit contacted Military Medical Department Region 2 to request professional support, and at the same time instructed the captain to quickly take the patient to Truong Sa Island Clinic for continued monitoring and treatment.
The timely support of officers and soldiers of DK1/11 Oil Rig has made an important contribution to initial handling, helping to stabilize the situation for fishermen before transferring to specialized medical facilities.
