On October 24, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Quang Binh province announced that a chickenpox outbreak had just occurred in the area.
Previously, on October 19, at Le Hoa Primary and Secondary School (Le Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district), 2 students showed symptoms of chickenpox.
By October 21, 12 more cases were discovered here, bringing the total number of chickenpox cases to 14 students.
After recording the outbreak, CDC Quang Binh requested Tuyen Hoa District Health Center and Le Hoa Commune Health Station to monitor and investigate cases at home and surrounding epidemiology; at the same time, conduct environmental treatment, disinfect classrooms and households with infected cases.
This is the first chickenpox outbreak in the province discovered in 2024.
Quang Binh CDC requested local medical staff to guide families with cases to practice daily hygiene, and to propagate and instruct people to get vaccinated against chickenpox.
According to doctors, when experiencing symptoms such as fever, headache, red rash, blisters on the skin... patients must immediately contact the nearest medical facility for appropriate treatment.
