At the end of the year, people's demand for alcohol often increases due to many activities such as weddings, death anniversaries, family parties, and meetings with friends. However, recently, many cases of serious poisoning have been recorded across the country, even death due to the use of poor quality alcohol, alcohol of unknown origin, seriously affecting people's health and lives.
In order to proactively prevent and minimize alcohol-related complications during the peak season at the end of the year, the Department of Health recommends that the People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones and relevant agencies and units strengthen the synchronous implementation of many solutions to ensure safety for the community.
Accordingly, localities need to step up information, propaganda, and recommendation to people about the harmful effects of alcohol use, especially wines of unknown origin, wines made from industrial alcohol. People are advised to only buy and use alcohol with labels and quality certificates, absolutely do not buy, sell, or use industrial alcohol to make wine.
At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision of alcohol production and trading activities in the area, especially manual distillation and domestic alcohol production establishments, street vendors, and temporary markets with alcohol trading of unknown origin. For suspected products, it is necessary to conduct rapid testing of Methanol or take samples for testing at competent facilities, and at the same time, trace the origin of products that do not meet requirements.
The Department of Health also recommends closely coordinating with functional forces such as Market Management, Police, and Inspectorate to inspect food service establishments such as restaurants, bars, karaoke bars, and wedding parties. In case of detecting the use and trading of poor quality or unknown origin, it is necessary to strictly handle it according to the provisions of law.
Localities integrate the content of preventing and combating the harmful effects of alcohol in meetings of the people, community activities, promoting the role of the grassroots health system, population collaborators, and heads of residential groups in direct propaganda work.
