Regarding the suspected food poisoning case due to eating spinach that caused 37 people to be hospitalized, on the morning of March 31, District 11 Hospital informed that there is currently 1 case being treated at the hospital, expected to be discharged from the hospital today.
Previously, on March 29, the hospital received a total of 37 cases of hospitalizations with abdominal pain, vomiting, and suspected food poisoning. Among them, there were 33 students from Tan Tuc Secondary School, Binh Chanh District, 1 6-year-old child and 3 adults.
Information from the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, students went out to play at Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11) and bought banh mi at a shop in District 6. The authorities suspected that the food poisoning was spinach. District 6 authorities have taken samples for testing.
The Food Safety Department of the Ministry of Health issued an official dispatch requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department to urgently direct hospitals with patients undergoing treatment to focus all resources on actively treating patients.
Organize an investigation to clearly identify the cause of the suspected poisoning incident according to regulations, trace to the origin of the suspected food poisoning, take samples of food and medicine for testing to find the cause.
Temporarily suspend the operation of a facility suspected of causing poisoning, investigate the implementation of food safety regulations of the facility, strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any) and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
