Dr Swathi Reddy, physiotherapist and dietician at Motherhood Hospital, says that taking a bath after eating disrupts the body’s natural digestive process. And digestion requires a lot of energy, so a large amount of blood flows to the stomach. When you eat, your body temperature increases slightly because the blood is directed to the digestive organs. But if you take a bath immediately after eating, there is a diversion in the blood flow. The blood that was directed to the digestive process starts flowing to other parts of the body, thus slowing down the digestive process, leading to discomfort and abdominal pain.
In addition, bathing in hot water not only increases body temperature but also increases heart rate. Therefore, when your stomach is full, you will feel quite uncomfortable and sluggish after bathing.
