Speaking at the opening ceremony, journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee - emphasized: over the past 17 years, Red Sunday has become a widespread movement, connecting millions of charitable hearts, contributing hundreds of thousands of units of blood to the health sector. But beyond the numbers, the most precious thing is the spirit of sharing that has deeply penetrated the community, especially in the young generation - those who are willing to give without demanding to receive back. Students are the sustainable energy that nurtures the vitality of the program for nearly two decades; expressing confidence that Red Sunday 2026 will continue to ignite hope, add life to thousands of patients and "sow into society the good seeds of compassion".
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Que, Director of the National Blood Center, emphasized that in the first 3 months of the year alone, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion expects to need about 122,000 units of blood to supply more than 180 medical facilities in the Northern region. Meanwhile, the expected amount of blood to be received will only meet part of the demand. Tens of thousands of patients are waiting every day, which are urgent cases that cannot be delayed. Red Sunday 2026 continues to be a bridge of compassion connecting charitable hearts with lives in need of support.
This year, the Center expects to need about 122,000 units of blood, while the newly received plan reaches 91,000 units, still lacking about 30,000 units. If there is no blood, for every 4 patients who need transfusion, only 3 people are met.

From voluntary blood drops to handshakes of encouragement, from the pioneering spirit of students to the joint efforts of organizations, businesses and artists... Red Sunday 2026 continues to affirm a simple but persistent message: giving to add life, to let compassion sprout and spread in the community.
