Drinking too much milk at once
You should not drink a large amount of milk at the same time for breakfast. Many people believe that milk is nutritious, so the more you drink, the better. However, consuming too much milk at once can increase the burden on the digestive system, causing discomfort in the stomach and intestines, and even leading to diarrhea. Therefore, you should drink in moderation so that the body absorbs nutrients effectively and limits unwanted effects.
Combine milk with oxalic acid-rich foods
Another common mistake is drinking milk with foods high in oxalic acid such as spinach, amaranth, beetroot... Oxalic acid can combine with calcium in milk to form oxalate calcium, reducing the body's ability to absorb calcium and in the long run may have adverse effects on health. Therefore, it is advisable to limit the combination of milk with these foods in the same meal.
Add too much sugar to milk
Many people have a habit of heating milk and then adding more sugar to make it easier to drink. However, adding too much sugar can increase blood sugar levels, especially not beneficial for people with diabetes or at risk of blood sugar disorders. It is best to drink whole milk or only add a very small amount of sugar if necessary.
Drink milk on an empty stomach
Drinking milk on an empty stomach for breakfast is also not recommended. When the body is lacking energy, the nutrients in milk, especially protein, are easily converted into energy instead of being absorbed to serve other bodily functions. To maximize the nutritional value of milk, you should eat a little food such as bread, cereals or starchy foods before drinking.
Take the medicine immediately after drinking milk
Do not take the medicine immediately after drinking milk. Some ingredients in milk may interact with the medicine, reducing treatment effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. If medication is needed, you should follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions on the appropriate time to take it, and avoid taking the medicine with milk if there are no indications.
