According to the Hai Duong Provincial Department of Health, the sudden change in weather has caused the number of children admitted to the Hai Duong Children’s Hospital to increase by 10% compared to previous warm days. Most of the patients admitted to the hospital suffered from respiratory diseases.
Some children with severe respiratory failure require ventilators. The Emergency Resuscitation Department is treating 27 children under 6 years old who are in serious condition, with symptoms such as high fever and convulsions.
In addition to children, many elderly people with respiratory diseases also have to be hospitalized for treatment. Department of Internal Medicine 2 (Respiratory Medicine) of Hai Duong General Hospital recorded a high number of patients and most of them were in serious condition.
Doctors recommend that people wear warm clothes, maintain a proper diet and exercise to prevent disease. When the weather drops, it is necessary to keep the body warm, have regular health check-ups, and closely monitor underlying diseases such as COPD, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. When symptoms of cough, fever, and fatigue appear, it is necessary to go to a medical facility for timely examination and treatment.
