On April 14, Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital coordinated with leading experts of the Central Eye Hospital to deploy corneal transplantation technique at the unit for the first time.
This is the first medical facility in Quang Ninh to implement this technique.
The two patients indicated for corneal transplantation are male, 54 years old and 60 years old, both residing in Quang Ninh.
Both suffer from severe corneal diseases, severely impaired vision, greatly affecting daily life and quality of life.
After conducting in-depth tests and consultations with experts at the Central Eye Hospital, the two patients were eligible to undergo corneal transplantation.
After more than 4 hours of surgery, the medical team completed the corneal transplant for 2 patients.
The surgery took place smoothly, initially giving positive results.
Currently, the patients are continuing to be monitored and received special care after surgery.
