Many changes at the ward health station
At An Nhon Ward Health Station, hundreds of people come for examination every day. According to Dr. Trinh Van Tien, Director of the station, this is something that the medical team has rarely thought of before: "Medical staff are no longer waiting for patients as before, but are always busy serving people.
After rearranging the administrative unit, Xuan Hoa Ward People's Committee used the District Party Committee and District 3 (old) People's Committee headquarters as a workplace. Therefore, the project at No. 18 Vo Van Tan became an surplus asset. To use this facility effectively, the Party Committee and Xuan Hoa Ward People's Committee proposed to convert its function into a ward health station. The health station is built on an area of 558m2, with a total floor area of nearly 1,800m2, including 1 ground floor, 3 floors, with 3 management and operation rooms and 4 specialized technical departments, along with 2 stations. The unit currently has 63 personnel, including 18 doctors. Total investment of nearly 28 billion VND from the city budget.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Hau - Chairman of Xuan Hoa Ward People's Committee, in the coming time, the health station will pilot the ATM medicine model, to ensure timely and convenient supply of essential medicines for people, especially the elderly, chronic patients and those who need regular monitoring and treatment in the community.
Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that the fact that ward health stations are equipped spaciously and modernly, and at the same time deploy the "Continuous health care team associated with the area - family health" is the right step. This shows a shift from passive medical examination and treatment thinking to proactive and continuous health management for people right in the community.
Ho Chi Minh City Health Station transforms to reduce overload at upper levels
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Hien - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of Hoa Hung Ward People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City - said that with the advantage of being located in the area with many large medical facilities, primary health care for people in Hoa Hung ward (Ho Chi Minh City) is becoming increasingly convenient.
However, besides the positive results, the locality still has some issues that need to be resolved to make the grassroots health system operate more fully and effectively, especially related to the additional income regime for some officials and medical staff according to previous regulations.
Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong also emphasized the urgent requirement to innovate management capacity at the grassroots health level: "Although identified as the foundation of the health system, the role of health stations has not been fully promoted. Many people tend to go beyond the level to large hospitals, causing overload at the upper level while the capacity of the lower level has not been effectively exploited.
Reality shows that, with similar facilities, some health stations attract a large number of people, while others are quite deserted. The big difference lies in the organization of operations, service spirit and management capacity of the head. According to the orientation of the city's health sector, the health station will be built into the "first medical touch point" of the people. Not only stopping at initial medical examination and treatment, the health station also plays a role in monitoring health, early disease prevention and long-term health management for people in the community.
In addition to improving facilities, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector coordinates with the People's Committees of wards to proactively organize training classes for medical staff and directors of ward health stations to improve the capacity to operate and effectively operate health stations and attract people to receive medical examination and treatment right at the grassroots level.
