Ho Chi Minh City launches media campaign to respond to Vietnam Health Insurance Day

Ho Chi Minh City will simultaneously deploy communication, consulting and mobilization activities for people to participate in health insurance on Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1).

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to organize propaganda activities to respond to Vietnam Health Insurance Day 2026 with the theme "Universal health insurance - For the health and happiness of the people". The plan aims to promote communication about the role, meaning and humanity of health insurance policies, and at the same time disseminate new regulations of the amended Health Insurance Law effective from July 1, 2026.

According to the plan, the city will organize a peak communication campaign throughout the area, raising people's awareness of the rights and responsibilities of participating in health insurance, encouraging card renewal on time, and not interrupting medical examination and treatment benefits. Communication activities are also directed towards employers, medical facilities and socio-political organizations to strengthen coordination in implementing health insurance policies.

One of the key contents is to propagate the new points of the revised Health Insurance Law, including expanding the subjects participating in compulsory health insurance, adjusting the contribution level and method of contribution, expanding medical examination and treatment benefits, as well as regulations on handling late payment and evasion of health insurance. At the same time, people will be updated with new policies on contribution levels and health insurance benefits according to regulations applied from July 1, 2026.

Ho Chi Minh City will also organize the Health Insurance Policy Propaganda, Consultation and Answering Day on July 1 with many activities such as direct consultation, card renewal guidance, support for using VssID, VNeID applications and chip-based citizen ID cards when going for medical examination and treatment with health insurance. In parallel, there is a propaganda launching ceremony throughout July in residential areas, markets, industrial parks, schools, boarding houses and medical examination and treatment facilities to reach many groups of subjects.

Medical examination and treatment facilities in the area are required to strengthen visual communication through banners, posters, electronic screens, videos, infographics and arrange health insurance policy counseling points in the patient reception area. The city also promotes communication on newspapers, television, social networks, electronic information portals and digital platforms to spread official information about health insurance policies.

In addition to propagating the rights of health insurance participants, the plan also focuses on introducing cases where health insurance funds pay large treatment costs, spreading effective models to mobilize people to participate in health insurance, and at the same time warning about acts of abusing and profiteering from health insurance funds and counterfeit and fraudulent tricks related to insurance.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance to take the lead in coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and departments, branches, and localities to implement the plan; at the same time, requesting medical examination and treatment facilities to continue to improve service quality, improve patient satisfaction, fully ensure the rights of health insurance participants and use the health insurance fund effectively.

Through this communication campaign, Ho Chi Minh City expects to continue to expand the coverage of HI, raise people's awareness about continuously participating in HI, contributing to building a sustainable social security system and implementing the goal of universal health insurance.
