Ho Chi Minh City develops traditional medicine in a specialized direction

Ho Chi Minh City - Developing traditional medicine in an in-depth direction is part of the development orientation of the city's health sector in the coming time.

On November 15, Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine organized the 2024 Science and Technology Conference with the theme of Developing traditional medicine in an in-depth direction.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that according to the development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a health care center in the ASEAN region.

There are four important goals that the Ho Chi Minh City health sector must achieve: stabilizing disease prevention work; developing community health activities; developing an out-of-hospital emergency network; and developing specialized medical centers.

"Therefore, developing traditional medicine in an in-depth direction is in the development orientation of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector in the coming time" - Mr. Vinh Chau said.

In particular, in addition to developing traditional medicine in an in-depth direction, the city's health sector hopes to apply and integrate traditional medicine care activities into the grassroots health system, focusing on primary health care.

According to Meritorious Doctor - Doctor CKII Do Tan Khoa - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine, the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment QH15/2023 and Conclusion 86-KL/TW on the development of Vietnamese traditional medicine and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association in the new period are the driving force to open the path of development, development in the direction of specialization.

Through the conference, the hospital also hopes to find a cooperation mechanism, focusing on institute-school, institute-institute, Vietnam-international cooperation, to coordinate and develop together.

This year's conference has 7 reports and presentations, experts will present comprehensively about the in-depth development in the field of traditional medicine, the specialized techniques that the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital has been developing. Along with that is the proposal to build a specialized specialized model.
