Implementing Directive No. 33/CT-TTg dated August 14, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening food safety assurance in educational institutions, on August 26, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document requesting Heads of Departments, agencies, branches, unions, Chairmen of People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to focus on directing and organizing the serious, drastic, and effective implementation of tasks and solutions in Directive No. 33/CT-TTg.
In which, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to be the presiding agency, coordinating with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Health and relevant departments, agencies, branches, unions, and localities to direct and guide educational institutions in the area to regularly supervise the implementation of food supply procedures, ensuring close supervision from the stage of selecting input materials to the process of preliminary processing, preservation, processing, and providing meals to educational institutions.
At the same time, review all collective kitchens and school canteens of educational institutions in the area, comprehensively assess human resources, facilities, equipment, report and propose to the local People's Committee to arrange human resources and funds to serve processing activities, and provide meals that ensure hygiene and food safety according to regulations, to be completed in September 2026.
In addition, compile a list, inspect, and evaluate the capacity and guaranteed conditions of establishments providing food and meals for educational institutions, requiring establishments to commit to strictly complying with the law on food safety; implement digitization, connection, and public disclosure of the network of safe food suppliers, clear and transparent origin information on quality and price according to the provisions of law.
At the same time, resolutely terminate contracts for processing and supplying meals and food ingredients to educational institutions that do not ensure food safety and hygiene (completed in September 2026 and organize periodic monthly and unscheduled inspections and assessments).
Summarize and report on the implementation results of departments, agencies, branches, unions, and localities, periodically every 6 months, annually or unexpectedly as required, advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to report to the Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister according to regulations.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests educational institutions in the city to organize the reception and handling of parents' feedback within 24 hours.
At the same time, implement transparency and public disclosure of information daily to parents (through bulletin boards, websites, technology applications, online contact groups) about the unit providing meals, ingredients, food images, import invoices, menus and actual meal trays images of students so that parents have a basis for monitoring and supervising; create conditions and mechanisms for the Parents' Representative Boards in educational institutions to participate in monitoring food sources...
