On August 23, information from Can Loc Medical Center said that doctors of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of the unit had just treated and removed a dog tick from the ear of a 5-year-old boy.
Previously, the boy residing in Dong Loc commune was taken by his family to Can Loc Medical Center for examination due to the appearance of itching, pain and discomfort in his ears.
Through examination, doctors discovered a dog tick parasitic in the ear canal. Immediately after that, doctors proceeded to handle and safely removed the foreign object.
After treatment, the baby's health stabilized and continued to be monitored by doctors.
According to doctors, dog ticks are a type of parasite that often sticks to pets. When parasitizing on the human body, especially in sensitive areas such as the ear canal, ticks can cause pain, discomfort, inflammation and injury if not treated properly.

Doctors at Can Loc Medical Center recommend that when children have symptoms of ear pain, fussiness, tinnitus, hearing loss or suspect insects or foreign objects in their ears, parents should not arbitrarily use cotton swabs, tweezers or other tools to remove them.
Self-treatment can cause injury or push the foreign object deeper. Parents should take their children to a medical facility for examination and timely, safe treatment.
