On March 10, K Hospital officially put into operation a radiation therapy machine system and hundreds of modern medical equipment at Quan Su facility (Hanoi), in order to improve the quality of cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients.
Attending the ceremony were Standing Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha and representatives of many units of the Ministry of Health, research institutes, insurance agencies and leaders of K Hospital.
According to Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang - Director of K Hospital, cancer treatment is a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, in which radiation therapy plays an important role. Faced with increasing treatment needs, the hospital has invested in 2 Versa HD accelerator radiation therapy machines, the latest version, allowing the deployment of many advanced radiation therapy techniques. The system has a dosage rate of 1500–2200 MU/minute, helping to shorten treatment time from 10 minutes to 2–3 minutes, focusing the dose on tumors and maximizing the protection of healthy surrounding organs.
The new radiation therapy system is also integrated with many modern technologies such as 4D CT simulation, Sentinel – C-RAD patient surface movement monitoring system, SGRT, IGRT technology, HexaPOD 6-dimensional treatment table and 4D CBCT. These technologies help control tumor movement according to breathing rhythm, improving accuracy and safety in treatment.
At Quan Su facility, the Versa HD system is combined with a 4D CT simulator and Monaco software integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) version 6.2.1, supporting automatic tumor zoning and online consultation. The radiation therapy procedure is managed according to international standards of the IAEA and ISRS, complying with recommendations of US and European radiation therapy associations.
In addition to radiation therapy, K Hospital also invests in many systems serving diagnosis and treatment such as: 8 modern endoscopic systems; more than 30 testing equipment; 4K resolution 3D endoscopic surgery system integrated with ICG fluorescence; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); vacuum breast biopsy machine; digital breast X-ray system; high-frequency tumor incinerator; 64-layer computed tomography machine serving radiation therapy planning.
Standing Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha said that putting into operation the radiation therapy system and modern equipment at K Hospital is an important milestone in the application of science and technology in cancer treatment.
He proposed that the hospital effectively exploit the new equipment system, and at the same time promote its role as a professional training center on radiation therapy for medical facilities nationwide.
According to K Hospital, the equipment investment project is implemented from the state budget with a total capital of 790 billion VND. The Japanese government also provides non-refundable medical equipment worth 1.83 billion yen (equivalent to about 300 billion VND).

The synchronous operation of two accelerated radiation therapy systems and many modern equipment at Quan Su facility not only helps reduce the burden on other facilities of K Hospital but also creates conditions for patients to access advanced treatment technology right in Vietnam, limiting the need to go abroad for treatment.
