Can Tho - According to forecasts, by the end of March 2025, Can Tho City Oncology Hospital will put into operation a modern radiation therapy system.

In the afternoon of February 16 (29th Tet), leaders of the Can Tho City Party Committee and representatives of departments and branches visited, wished good health, and presented gifts to doctors and nurses on duty during Tet and patients being treated at Can Tho City Oncology Hospital; and at the same time inspected the progress of installing a modern radiation therapy system at the Hospital.

Regarding the installation of a modern radiation therapy system, reporting to the leaders of Can Tho City, Dr. Vo Van Kha - Director of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital said that all work is being urgently implemented. The hospital continues to proactively coordinate with parties and units to soon put into operation a modern radiation therapy system, meeting the treatment needs of patients in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Huy Sang (MEGA Medical Equipment Company, Representative of VARIAN MEDICAL SYSTEMS) informed that the installation work started on the 26th of Tet, when the machine arrived at the port and continued to bring the machine here. Currently, the machine has completed the mechanical part and wiring, and the next stage is to turn on the machine and adjust the parameters, before proceeding with radiation and treatment.

The implementation time is short, so we have mobilized forces to work day and night to shield from radiation. Currently, it will take us about 10 more days to emit rays. However, with the radiation therapy system, for safety, we must apply for a license from the Radio Safety Department (about 15 days), so we expect that when we have a license, we hope to put it into service by the end of March" - Mr. Sang said.
