Three children who died in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam were concluded to have suffered from diarrhea and pneumonia.

On the afternoon of February 5, Director of the Quang Nam Department of Health Mai Van Muoi said that the provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) had reported the cause of death of 3 children, suspected to be due to measles in Tra Leng commune, Nam Tra My district, during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

All 3 deceased children lived in Tra Leng commune, including 2 siblings: N.H.D (born in 2018) and N.T.T (born in 2021), children of Mr. N.V.T (living in Ong Thuong hamlet, village 3). These two children had diarrhea 3 days before Tet, the village health worker came to the house to advise and guide them to the clinic, but the head of the household did not listen. Both children suffered from severe diarrhea leading to dehydration, exhaustion, and death on the 1st and 2nd days of Tet.

The third death was H.K.H (born in 2020), son of Mr. H.V.T (living at Den Pin roof, village 3, Tra Leng commune). The child suffered from cough, fever, prolonged pneumonia, respiratory failure and died on the 3rd day of Tet.

Dr. Tran Van Kiem - Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Quang Nam said that all three children's deaths were not caused by measles, but by serious complications from diarrhea and pneumonia, which were not treated promptly.

In addition to these 3 cases, there is also an outbreak of rash fever in Tra Leng commune, with 43 children infected in just 15 days. Provincial and local health agencies have taken samples for testing, sent them to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for monitoring and implementing many emergency measures to contain the outbreak.
