On the morning of August 19, news from the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that a new dengue fever outbreak had just been detected in the border area between Van Mieu village and Trung Thuong commune of Ky Hoa with 8 cases.
Previously, on August 7, in Tan Duc village, Ky Hoa commune, a dengue fever outbreak also appeared with 5 cases. To date, the number of cases at this outbreak has increased to 9 cases. In addition to the above 2 outbreaks, the locality recorded 4 more sporadic cases. Thus, Ky Hoa commune currently has 21 dengue fever cases.
On the afternoon of August 18, the Ha Tinh CDC working delegation worked with the Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases of Ky Hoa commune to deploy urgent measures to handle the new outbreak.
Through actual inspection in the area with patients, the working group noted that the population density is high, environmental sanitation is not guaranteed; some waste has not been collected and treated, and many water containers have not been cleaned regularly. These are favorable conditions for dengue fever transmitting mosquitoes to develop.
Previously, Ky Hoa Commune Health Station coordinated with villages to organize environmental sanitation, kill larvae and pupae, and propagate to people to prevent and control epidemics. Functional forces sprayed chemicals at 172 households around the area with patients. However, environmental sanitation has not been thoroughly implemented, and some households are still subjective.
According to Ha Tinh CDC, the dengue fever situation in Ky Hoa may continue to be complicated, with a high risk of new cases appearing.
Therefore, it is proposed that localities strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to sanitize the environment, kill mosquitoes and larvae according to the motto "going to each alley - knocking on each house", not to let the epidemic spread widely.
On this occasion, Ha Tinh CDC supported Ky Hoa commune with 19 liters of mosquito repellent chemicals to spray to encircle and stamp out the epidemic and assigned professional staff to guide spraying techniques and deploy measures to control the outbreak.
