Giving "Trade Union Shelter" to help union members in difficult circumstances repair dilapidated houses
Dong Nai city has nearly 800,000 officials, civil servants, public employees, and laborers. Joining forces with the trade union and the locality, in recent years, the Golden Heart Charity Fund has always accompanied and cared for workers in difficult circumstances here.
Ms. Bui Thi Le Ngoc (48 years old) is a worker at Pou Chen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa ward, Dong Nai city). Ms. Ngoc's family is in very difficult circumstances, with a young child with congenital disabilities. The house where Ms. Ngoc and her husband are living was built 27 years ago, has seriously deteriorated and is leaky. Ms. Ngoc shared that she has been a worker for more than 10 years and is also the main breadwinner in the family, her child is congenitally deaf and has to go to "integration" classes, unable to study like other normal children. Her house leaks every time it rains and there is no money to repair it.
Grasping Ms. Ngoc's difficulties, at the end of 2025, the Golden Heart Charity Fund mobilized sponsors, coordinated with the Dong Nai City Labor Federation to award a "Trade Union Shelter" to Ms. Ngoc's family - belonging to the grassroots Trade Union of Pou Chen Vietnam Co., Ltd., with a support level of 50 million VND/house. Up to now, Ms. Ngoc has used the above amount of money to replace the corrugated iron roof and repair the house to be more spacious, helping her alleviate some of the difficulties in life. "I am very happy and touched to receive support from the Golden Heart Fund of Lao Dong Newspaper, helping my family have a real home" - Ms. Ngoc said.
In addition, Lao Dong Newspaper is also present in a timely manner to support workers and families of workers who have suffered labor accidents.
In May 2025, a tragic labor accident occurred in Dong Nai at P.N Ceramic Tile Joint Stock Company (Tan An commune, Dong Nai city), killing 2 workers and injuring 3 workers.
Immediately after the incident occurred, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, representatives of the Golden Heart Charity Fund, in coordination with the Dong Nai City Labor Federation, directly went to the families of 5 workers who suffered labor accidents to visit and provide support to injured workers (5 million VND/person) and provide support to families of workers who died (10 million VND/person).
It is known that all 5 workers who suffered labor accidents are in difficult circumstances. Among them, the family of the deceased worker N.L. S. has the most difficult life. Worker N.L. S.'s wife raises 5 young children and lives in a very dilapidated house. Worker N.L. S.'s wife said that the dilapidated house was built thanks to her grandmother giving her a piece of land, the couple borrowed some money from friends to build temporarily next to her grandmother's house. The walls of the house have not been plastered, and there are still rough bricks left. The house has no doors, the inside of the house is empty, without valuable items except for an old cabinet given by neighbors.
Caring for workers' children overcoming difficulties and studying well.
Not only caring for union members, the Golden Heart Charity Fund also cares for and encourages workers' children to overcome difficulties and study well. Bui Ha Phuong Vi, a 6th grade student at Hoa Hung Secondary School, whose mother is a worker at TKG Taekwang Vina Joint Stock Company in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai City. Her family life is very difficult as her mother alone raises 4 children and is renting a room. Vi's case is one of many cases of workers' children in difficult circumstances in Dong Nai City who need to be cared for and encouraged. At the end of 2025, the Golden Heart Charity Fund donated 25 scholarships to 25 workers' children in difficult circumstances who overcame difficulties and studied well belonging to the Long Hung Ward Trade Union, Dong Nai City at a rate of 1 million VND/scholarship. Bui Ha Phuong Vi said: Receiving scholarships from the Golden Heart Charity Fund, she will spend money to buy books and school supplies.
Previously, in September 2024, the Golden Heart Charity Fund also mobilized sponsors to award scholarships to 20 students who are children of workers in difficult circumstances in Dong Nai with a scholarship level of 1 million VND/child. In addition, each child also received a gift of a box of mooncakes. 20 children who are children of workers considered for scholarships all have very difficult family circumstances such as orphaned fathers (mothers), fathers or mothers with serious illnesses, work accidents, no housing, having to live in rent, very difficult family circumstances... but the children all have one thing in common: the spirit of striving to overcome circumstances and rise up in their studies. In the past school year, the children achieved excellent results in their studies.
At that time, leaders of Dong Nai Trade Union said that this was a meaningful activity, right when the children entered the new school year and before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Dong Nai Trade Union hopes that in the coming time, it will continue to receive the attention and support of the Golden Heart Charity Fund as well as philanthropists to join hands in caring for workers' children.
