Mr. Tran Van Cao (born in 1982) is the father of Tran Thuy Linh (born in 2007), in Co Hoang village (Phuong Duc commune, Hanoi).
According to Mr. Cao, Linh was diagnosed with bone cancer when she had just entered university for a month.
At that time, Linh showed signs of leg pain and weakness and told her parents. Initially, Mr. and Mrs. Cao thought she had just enrolled in school, was not used to walking 1km from the rented house to the lecture hall... But after more than 3 weeks without seeing any improvement, the family took her to the doctor.
Biopsy results and test results showed that Linh was in stage 2b. Linh is being treated at K Hospital Tan Trieu facility. To date, she has been treated with chemotherapy for 6 courses.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Cao could not hide his worry, sadness and feeling of helplessness because his daughter was seriously ill while the family was poor. Not to mention, he felt heartbroken for his daughter because she was diagnosed with the disease when she was just enrolled in university for 1 month. "Before her eyes are many dreams and ambitions... Now everything has to stop because disaster is coming," Mr. Cao choked up.
Mr. Cao said that he was originally a freelancer. His wife is Ms. Ta Thi Thuy, born in 1984, working as a plastic factory worker, earning about 7 million VND/month. They have 2 children, Linh is the eldest child, Linh's younger brother was born in 2010.

“Previously, when my child had not contracted a serious illness, my husband and I tried to work hard to have money to take care of the children's education. Life was not well-off but it was enough to make ends meet. Since Linh became ill, all family activities have been disrupted, I can't do anything because I'm still busy taking my child to the hospital, and her mother is also struggling to work because she has to go to the hospital to take care of her child. The family's economy is increasingly struggling...”, Mr. Cao said.
These days, Linh has just been allowed by the hospital to go home for Tet after a period of treatment. Thinking about his child's future and the days when the whole family will accompany his child to fight the upcoming illness, Mr. Cao is deeply concerned and worried...
I am sad because I don't have money to treat my child, borrowing from anyone is difficult because my family and siblings are all in difficulty... Father's heart loves his child but is powerless...", Mr. Cao said with tears in his eyes.
Mr. Chu Dang Khoa, head of Co Hoang village (Phuong Duc commune, Hanoi) said that since Linh was diagnosed with a serious illness, the village, commune and mass organizations have visited and encouraged her. However, the government's support is insignificant compared to her prolonged and complicated treatment process.
We really hope that Linh will be helped by many philanthropists so that she recovers from her illness and continues to go to school. Mr. Cao and Ms. Thuy also have the conditions to work to raise their children to become good people," Mr. Khoa said.
