Carlos Alcaraz, the world's third- richest tennis player, is in Doha to participate in the 2025 Qatar Open, a tournament in the 500 ATP system.
According to the branch, Alcaraz will meet former US Open champion Marin Cilic in the first round and could face Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.
Before participating in the tournament in Qatar, Alcaraz won the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam (Netherlands).
Sharing with AS ( Spain), Alcaraz said: "The victory in Rotterdam gives me confidence when participating in the tournament in Qatar. Obviously, winning a title always gives you more motivation to aim for the next goals. I am very happy to participate in the tournament in Qatar for the first time and have prepared carefully for the upcoming matches.
In previous years, Alcaraz often competed in South America after finishing the first Grand Slam of the year in Australia. But this year, the Spaniard has decided to try his hand at the Qatar Open. According to him, this change will "breathe new life into himself", and at the same time help him " accumulate more experience playing at home".
At the 2025 Qatar Open, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will not participate due to a 3-month ban. That will give other players such as Alcaraz, Djokovic, Zverev more chances to win the championship.
I have nothing to say about Sinners penalty. No matter if Sinner participates in the tournament, I always try to play well in the tournaments I participate in because my most important goal is to be No. 1 in the world. As usual, I focus on improving myself, trying my best in tournaments to get closer to the No. 1 position, Alcaraz shared.
Carlos Alcaraz, born in 2003, has won 4 Grand Slams in his career including Wimbledon (2023, 2024), Roland Garros (2024) and the US Open (2022). He only lacks the Australian Open championship to complete the Grand Slam collection.
However, at the 2025 Australian Open, Alcaraz was eliminated by Djokovic in the quarter-finals. Therefore, he aims to win at least one of the remaining 3 Grand Slams of the year.
I will not hesitate to win one of the other three Grand Slams. Hopefully, I will win more than 1 Grand Slam, everyone please wait and see, Alcaraz happily said.
