On December 10, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak- Kamysz revealed that the country is negotiating the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in exchange for access to Kiev's UAV technology ( drones).
In the near future, MiG-29s will no longer be in service in the Polish Air Force because their technical life cycle has expired, Kosiniak-ysz told local media.
We are negotiating with Ukraine on the transfer of MiG-29, and discussing the possibility of bringing some technologies, such as UAV technology, to Poland. This unity must be two-way," Minister Kosiniak- Kamysz added.
Meanwhile, the Polish General Staff said that this potential transfer comes from the lack of prospects for deeper modernization for the old MiG-29 series designed from the Soviet era.
This will be part of a joint policy to support Ukraine and maintain security for the eastern flank of NATO, the agencys announcement said, noting that a final decision has not yet been made.
The missions that the MiG-29 currently carries will be taken over by the F-16 and FA-50.
Regarding the transfer plan, the Polish military said it was negotiating with Ukraine about receiving some UAV and missile technologies.
