According to Yonhap, 140 members of the Korean band Samjiyon took a ferry to Korea to prepare for a performance in Gangneung on February 9 and in Seoul on February 11.
This will be the first performance by North Korean artists in Korea since 2002 when Pyongyang sent a group of 30 singers and dancers from many music groups to Seoul to attend a joint event.
After having lunch on the Mangyongbong-92 ferry to be at Mukho port in eastern Korea, the North Korean art troupe appeared at the Gangneung Arts Center at around 3:40 p.m. on February 7 in simple costumes.
The leader of Hyon Song-wol and the members all wore red round-neck T-shirts and comfortable black pants. The shirt has the North Korean flag printed on the left chest.
Previously, when appearing in Korea, the group wore a fashionable red jacket and a black animal fur hat, wearing high-top boots with women, while men wore a black jacket and hat.
According to Yonhap, the members of the North Korean performance troupe looked nervous and uncomfortable when they arrived at the art center at around 2am to check the musical instruments and stage equipment. When the Korean reporters greeted, the group members only passed by without taking a bus.
However, in the afternoon, some members of the group waved their hands and were enchanted with the reporters. Some even responded: "It's a pleasure to meet you" and waved their hands at the city's residents.
The North Korean publicity troupe, consisting of an orchestra, dancers and singers, is expected to leave South Korea and return home after performances in Gangneung and Seoul.
