Suspicion of illegal rocks on Hon Cha Mountain flooding into businesses

Binh Dinh - Although the exploitation and transportation of stone on Hon Cha Mountain has been strictly prohibited, dump trucks still brazenly carry stone out of the mountain and bring it to businesses.

Rocks on the mountain illegally smugged into the factory

Late afternoon on May 5, a dump truck with license plate 92C-110.24 appeared on the trail leading to Hon Cha Mountain (Tran Quang Dieu Ward, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh). Coated with dust and rocks, the car quietly rolled into the forest - a hot spot where illegal stone mining has been taking place for many years.

At a mining site deep in the mountain, the car stopped. After more than 20 minutes of digging, a large rock was picked up by the excavator and loaded into the box. The car quickly pulled a tarpaulin, covered it thoroughly and left the scene.

Following the winding dirt road, the car quickly crashed into National Highway 1, heading towards Dieu Tri intersection (Tuy Phuoc district). When arriving at the intersection, the vehicle turned left onto National Highway 19C, heading straight to the stone factory of An Thinh Stone Company Limited, located in Phuoc An commune (Tuy Phuoc district).

From the exploitation point to the stone factory, the dump truck takes nearly 2 hours. But throughout the journey, through many roads - from the mountains to the highway, through the crowded intersections, the wheelchair without any inspection from the functional force. No key stations, no load check, no one asked about the stone origin on the car.

The reporter contacted Ms. Phan Thi Ngoc Hanh - Director of An Thinh Stone Company Limited. Through discussion, Ms. Hanh denied that this enterprise consumed illegal stone on Hon Cha Mountain, and affirmed that all stone sources imported to the company had full documents.

"My company has several hundred blocks of stone on Hon Cha Mountain, which were liquidated by the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency. All of these stones have full legal documents and related licenses. The vehicles can be used as much as needed to transport the rest, and left on the mountain," Ms. Hanh affirmed.

Clarifying the fact that businesses "have" rocks on Hon Cha Mountain

However, the content that the Director of An Thinh Stone Company Limited affirmed surprised the authorities and local authorities. Because up to now, many management units have confirmed that they have not received any information about the large amount of stone being liquidated and left on Hon Cha Mountain by the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency.

Confirming to the reporter, the leader of the ward People's Committee, the police of Tran Quang Dieu ward said that the local authorities and the police authorities did not know about this, if any, the locality must know. This is also the answer that the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Binh Dinh province said when the reporter contacted.

"The exploitation and transportation of rocks on Hon Cha mountain has been strictly prohibited by the province. Up to now, the Department has not recorded the judgment execution agency with liquidation of rocks on Hon Cha Mountain for An Thinh Stone Co., Ltd.

The leader of the Civil Judgment Enforcement Department of Binh Dinh province said that he would verify and clarify the information that the Judgment Enforcement Agency had liquidated the stone on Hon Cha Mountain to An Thinh Stone Company Limited. "If there is liquidation, it must also be done in accordance with the regulations of the province, not just leave it for a long time," he said.

The verification results show that the information provided by the Director of An Thinh Stone Company Limited is still very new and not consistent with the authorities and local authorities. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify soon whether this enterprise is consuming and legalizing illegal stone or not.

Because the consumption of illegal stone is not only an act of assisting stone bandits in destroying resources, but also indirectly raising and maintaining illegal mining activities. This has become one of the main reasons why the "cutting of meat" situation of Hon Cha mountain has existed for many years and is unlikely to end.
