The Russian military destroyed a US-made Stryker armored fighting vehicle in the Kursk region, RT reported. The 19-second video, recorded by a drone, shows the Stryker moving on a dirt road along a field and near a wooded area. The US armored vehicle burst into flames after being targeted by the drone.
According to the caption of the video posted on the Telegram channel Troyka, the Russian marines destroyed this armored vehicle using a Lancet drone.
This family of drones has become one of the most important medium-range tools in Russia’s arsenal. Lancets have been used repeatedly to destroy high-value Ukrainian assets, such as mobile and towed artillery, radars, etc.
The Lancet drone is developed by the ZALA Aero Group, part of the Kalashnikov Concern. The Lancet drone is capable of carrying a payload of up to 3 kg, with a maximum range of 50 km. The Lancet has also been successfully used against heavily armored targets such as tanks supplied to Ukraine by the West.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not mention the specific location of the attack. According to the ministry, the Russian army is continuing its counteroffensive in the Kursk region - the area where Ukraine launched its offensive in August.
In another development related to the Ukrainian war, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS on November 15 that Russian military units had gained control of about 10 kilometers of the border of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic near the village of Stelmakhovka. He said that by establishing fortified positions on strategic heights, Russian forces had intensified attacks on Ukrainian positions along this frontline area.
Previously, on October 16, Mr. Marochko informed that Ukrainian forces were still operating near three key towns in the west of Lugansk, including Svatovo, Kremennaya and Lisichansk. Overall, Ukrainian forces controlled less than 1% of Lugansk territory.
