On the morning of November 17, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Vietnam Education Trade Union held the 16th ceremony to award the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher and to honor outstanding teachers in 2024.
At the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged the contributions of more than 1.6 million teachers nationwide, especially the 340 teachers who were honored. At the same time, he affirmed that honoring the teaching profession and honoring teachers has become a beautiful cultural feature of our country.
According to the Minister, to successfully carry out the major tasks of the education sector, the entire education sector must be very determined and must meet many necessary conditions. In particular, the human factor, typically teachers and education managers, plays a particularly important role.
People's Teachers, Excellent Teachers, and Exemplary Teachers will be the core to best promote their experience, intelligence, determination, and creativity, while sharing, spreading, inspiring positivity, and multiplying good things to the community of teachers.
The titles are recognition and honor for the past, the depth of performance and contribution of teachers, and also expectations and hopes for teachers to continue to shine and contribute to the cause of educational development.
“Ginger gets spicier with time, teachers get better with age. I sincerely hope that teachers will continue to self-study, self-renew, overcome their own limits to best promote their excellence.
Teachers are excellent people who need to be the core for solving new and difficult problems. Excellence does not wait to be assigned or requested, but that excellence needs to be demonstrated through a spirit of dedication, responsibility, initiative, and positivity in what has been done, is being done, and needs to be done for the education sector," the Minister expressed.
Representing nearly 340 honored teachers, Ms. Vu Thi Hanh - Vice Principal of Chu Van An High School (Yen Bai) said that over the past 34 years standing on the podium, witnessing the ups and downs, changes, and breakthroughs of the country's education, despite countless difficulties and hardships, she and her colleagues still have a steady hand at the wheel, a firm hand on the oar, all for the sake of beloved students, for the sacred duty of the teaching profession.
Ms. Hanh expressed that the titles of People's Teacher, Excellent Teacher, and Outstanding Teacher honored today are not only an honor and pride but also a great responsibility, requiring each teacher to try and strive even harder.
"We promise that each teacher must be the driving force for the development of each agency and unit; the nucleus that radiates the most positive energy, has the greatest influence and impact on colleagues and students, so that all of them can resonate with many generations, creating a modern education that is still very Vietnamese" - Ms. Hanh confided.
On May 30, 1985, the State Council issued a Decree regulating the State honorary titles to be awarded to artists, teachers, and doctors. From 1986 to 2020, through 15 conferrals, the President signed a Decision to confer the title of People's Teacher to 650 people and 9,081 excellent teachers.
By 2024, after 8 times of selecting Outstanding Teachers, the Minister of Education and Training signed a decision to award Certificates of Merit to 1,851 teachers.
This is the great concern of the Party and State for the education sector in general, for teachers and educational managers in particular, demonstrating the fine tradition of "Respecting teachers and valuing education" of the nation.
