During the same period, Ukraine lost more than 300 soldiers, four infantry fighting vehicles, four artillery pieces, one radar station and other equipment, the Russian Defense Ministry added.
Russian forces entered the settlements of Daryino, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Nikolaevo-Daryino and Novoivanovka in Kursk Oblast. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, seven Ukrainian counterattacks were also repelled.
Russian aircraft and artillery attacked Ukrainian troops at more than 20 locations across Kursk Oblast. The attacks also targeted military concentrations in Ukraine’s Summy region, which borders Russia.
The Russian military announced that Ukraine's losses in more than 3 months since the start of the attack on Russia's Kursk province amounted to 31,700 soldiers, 200 tanks, 131 infantry fighting vehicles, 110 armored personnel carriers and hundreds of other equipment, including 11 HIMARS artillery systems provided by the US.
Ukraine launched an attack on Russia's Kursk province on August 6. This was the largest attack on Russian territory since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February 2022.
In recent weeks, the area in Kursk under Ukrainian control has been steadily shrinking, but Kiev's forces remain present in many parts of the province.
Last weekend, the Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that Kiev is prioritizing control of territories in the Kursk region. Ukraine currently has two of its best regiments deployed on Russian territory. These units are equipped with the best weapons available to Ukraine, including German-made Leopard tanks and American-made Abrams tanks.
Ukrainian soldiers told El Pais that troops fighting in Kursk rotate every 10 days, while troops in the Donbass region are replaced every 25 days on average.
