CNN reported that a 7.6-magnitude earthquake occurred 205 km southwest ofepsia, the Cayman Islands, according to the US Geological Survey Administration (USGS).
The earthquake occurred at 6:23 p.m. on February 8 Eastern time, according to USGS's report.
Based on all available data, there is a risk of a tsunami in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, as sea levels may fluctuate and the current could become dangerous along the coast, beaches, ports and coastal waters.
According to the US National Tsunami Warning Center, the earliest time the sea level could begin to fluctuate strongly and the currents became dangerous in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands was at 20:48 p.m. on February 8 Eastern time.
There is currently no confirmation of the formation of a tsunami and the National Tsunami Warning Center is monitoring this threat.
People in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are recommended to leave the water area, stay away from beaches, ports, marina, bays and creeks, and should not go to the coast to observe the tsunami.
