In Hong Kong (China), the clicking sound of mahjong cards has become an indispensable sound every Lunar New Year. Not only is it an entertainment game in family gatherings, it is also a symbol of wishing for good luck for the coming year.
Grasping this cultural feature, the Conspiracy Chocolate brand has turned familiar cards into artwork made from high-class cocoa.
The new product named Thập Tam Thái Bảo is named after one of the rarest and most difficult to win cards in the mahjong game.
The difference of this brand lies in the closed production process from the cocoa seed selection stage to the finished product. Cocoa seeds are imported from a single farm in Vietnam, then undergo fermentation, roasting, grinding, and incubation for a month to achieve the most delicate flavor.
To create a special mahjong deck for this year, artisans combined a 64% black chocolate crust with the characteristic flavors of Hong Kong (China) desserts. Diners can find the flavor of black sesame and ginger imitating traditional banh troi tau.
The collection also has a white sesame flavor combined with fresh coconut inspired by mochi cake or a blend of milk tea and almonds, imbued with the style of local popular eateries.
The shaping process for each chocolate card is also extremely elaborate when each piece is hand-sealed with a metal seal made by local stamp collectors. The production team had to work with calligraphers and long-time mahjong players to ensure that each line on the chocolate card looks as realistic as possible. The final step is to cover it with a layer of food gold dust to create a luxurious appearance and bring the meaning of fortune.
Although there are opinions that winning the Tam Thai Bao card game at the beginning of the year may drain the luck of the whole year, brand founders have a different view.
They believe that owning and sharing these chocolate cards is a way to distribute luck and joy to loved ones.
This is not only a luxurious gift but also a way for everyone to connect and enjoy the sweet taste together during the Lunar New Year days.
