Indonesian National Assembly Chairman Setya Novanto was detained at the end of November 19. A spokesperson for the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Agency (KPK) said he would be detained for 20 days for questioning.
Mr. Setya Novanto denied all allegations.

On the evening of November 16, it was reported that his car had an accident and he was hospitalized at Permata Hijau hospital in southern Jakarta. Setya Novanto's lawyer said on November 17 that his infirmary was guarded by armed forces.
On November 19, doctors said that Mr. Setya Novanto could be discharged from the hospital. According to ABC, responding to the media that evening, Mr. Novanto said he was still dizzy after a traffic accident that injured his leg, hand and head.
In images recorded by the media when the Indonesian National Assembly Chairman was escorted from the hospital to the detention center, he wore an orange jacket for those detained and sat in a wheelchair.
