At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam on the afternoon of May 15, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang answered questions about Vietnamese citizens violating regulations on entry and exit and temporary detention in Myanmar.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that, implementing the Government's direction, as of May 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand have closely coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security, relevant agencies of Vietnam as well as with local authorities and have brought more than 450 Vietnamese citizens back home.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working with relevant countries, continuing to direct Vietnamese representative agencies in Thailand and Myanmar to coordinate with local authorities and domestic authorities to organize the return of the remaining citizens to the country as soon as possible.
According to Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, there are currently about 200 Vietnamese citizens violating immigration regulations and being detained in Myanmar.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to advise Vietnamese citizens to be vigilant against offers to work abroad with "easy work, high salary".
Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that before citizens decide to work abroad, workers abroad need to carefully research the content, regimes, and expected work locations to avoid falling into the scam trap and becoming illegal residents and workers abroad.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang noted that if the relatives of Vietnamese citizens want to contact and request help, they should contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and the Consular Department via hotline hotline hotline and citizen protection hotline.
