The US election situation has not fundamentally changed

Hạ Lang |

The televised debate between the US Vice Presidential candidates was closely watched by the public but had almost no decisive influence on the final outcome of the election.

This year, the debate between Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance and Democratic nominee Tim Walz has been getting more attention because the contest between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is so intense that no one is sure who will win. Therefore, the outcome of the war of words between Mr. Vance and Mr. Walz is expected to have a significant impact on the outcome of the contest between Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris.

Mr. Vance and Mr. Walz had a very civil debate, not the acrimonious one seen in the Trump-Harris debate. Mr. Vance appeared more confident and articulate than usual, while Mr. Walz looked confused and awkward to the point of being difficult to understand.

Overall, although Mr. Vance was slightly better than Mr. Walz in the debate, the final result was still a tie. Therefore, the situation of the presidential campaign between the Trump/Vance pair and the Harris/Walz pair basically did not change after the above debate. This tie did not bring any benefits but also did not harm Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris, nor did it negatively affect Mr. Walz's political future.

The only one who benefits is Mr. Vance, but in the long run, not in the present. Everyone knows that if Mr. Trump returns to power in the US, Mr. Vance will only be Mr. Trump's deputy. In his previous presidency, Mr. Trump did not share power with then-Vice President Mike Pence.

More than four weeks before this year's presidential election in the United States, every scenario about the final outcome is still possible.
