On June 28 (US time), according to TASS, former US House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said that the continued conflict with Iran could increase the risk of the US or Israel using nuclear weapons if the situation escalates beyond control.
In an interview with TASS, Ms. Greene expressed concern about the possibility that Israel, a country believed to possess nuclear arsenals, could choose more extreme military measures if tensions continue to prolong.
“Israel has nuclear weapons. What I fear is that they may try to use them against Iran. If that happens, the consequences will be extremely serious,” she said.
She also questioned whether the US could go that far, while emphasizing that she hopes this scenario will never happen.
According to Ms. Greene, there are currently no clear signs that a sustainable peaceful solution has been established in the Middle East. She described the current peace agreement as "fragile" and said that there are still many instability factors.
Ms. Greene believes that the decision to launch a military campaign against Iran could become the biggest mistake in President Donald Trump's term if the situation continues to escalate.
According to the former Georgian congressman, developments in the next few weeks or months will determine whether the region can maintain a stable state.
She also said that Israel has not shown signs of wanting to completely end military operations in the region.
“Israel is very open about not wanting to stop. If they continue military operations in Lebanon and Gaza, the question is whether they really want to end the conflict with Iran,” she said.
However, she believes that the escalation of the crisis is still unpredictable.
Marjorie Taylor Greene was once considered one of the closest allies of US President Donald Trump and a prominent face of the MAGA movement. However, relations between the two sides have cracked in recent months after she continuously criticized US military intervention activities abroad.
