TASS on July 2nd quoted a statement posted on the Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in Sweden as saying that a 4-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle dropped a box containing red paint on the premises of the diplomatic mission.
Another UAV equipped with a fake explosive device crashed, apparently due to an incident, right on campus, next to the embassy building.
The Russian Embassy said that this is an action aimed at threatening the country's diplomatic mission and that Sweden must take full responsibility for the continuous attacks as well as the consequences.
Previously, the Russian Embassy informed that since May 2024, more than 15 UAV attacks targeting Russian diplomatic facilities in Sweden have been recorded. In these incidents, drones dropped paint containers, causing property damage.
According to the embassy, some cases are particularly dangerous due to the large weight of paint-containing glass jars. If they fall on people and break, they can cause serious injuries.
The Russian Embassy in Sweden has reported all incidents to the Swedish police, and sent a diplomatic note to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting the host country to fulfill its obligations under international law to ensure security for diplomatic missions. To date, the perpetrators have not been identified and similar incidents continue to occur.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it is still implementing enhanced security measures, although the ability to implement them is limited.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also spoke about the UAV attacks targeting the Russian Embassy in Sweden. Moscow continues to demand that Stockholm strictly comply with its obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations in ensuring the security of diplomatic missions.
