First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Karel Havlicek proposed to supply oil to Slovakia through the Druzhba oil pipeline located on Czech territory during his visit to the country, according to CTK news agency.
The Czech Republic proposes to supply oil from the west to Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline" - CTK quoted Mr. Havlicek as saying.
The expected oil volume is small, Czech officials said. If Slovakia needs more through the Druzhba oil pipeline in the Czech Republic, the system will have to be significantly expanded.
Slovakia has not received oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline since the beginning of February.
Also related to the disruption of oil supply through Druzhba, Slovakia has proposed to Croatia to allow Russian oil to be transported through the Adriatic pipeline.
TA3 television channel said that this request was sent to Croatia by Slovakia and Hungary, a country that also did not receive oil through Druzhba. The document was signed by Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Denisa Sakova and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.
Bratislava and Budapest currently see the Adriatic pipeline as a replacement oil supply route for Druzhba.
The Slovak Ministry of Economy expects the supply of crude oil through Druzhba, which has been interrupted since the beginning of February, to soon resume. On February 13, the Slovak Ministry of Economy said that Slovakia has strategic reserves of oil and oil products sufficient for about 90 days.
