According to TASS, the US is currently deploying about 80,000 troops in Europe. However, the scale and structure of this force are constantly being adjusted to suit the changing international situation. The information was provided by an official of the US European Command (EUCOM).
According to this official, out of a total of about 80,000 US military personnel in the area, about 38,000 are present in Germany. This force includes both standing soldiers and rotating units.
Germany continues to play a central role in the US military deployment network in Europe. This is an important location for logistics, training and force coordination.
EUCOM said that the above figures are not fixed but can change frequently, almost monthly. This fluctuation mainly comes from pre-prepared exercise plans.
Force rotation in and out of the region also contributes to changing the number of troops. This is part of a strategy to maintain the flexibility and rapid adaptability of the US military.
EUCOM officials emphasized that the US always conducts reviews and adjusts the arrangement of forces when conditions change. This is based on the combination of long-term garrison forces and temporary deployment units.
These statements were made in the context that US President Donald Trump had mentioned the possibility of reducing the US military presence in some European countries such as Germany, Spain and Italy.
However, EUCOM believes that the current adjustments are mainly operational and technical. These changes are more associated with regular military operations than reflecting a major policy change.
Maintaining significant forces in Europe remains an important part of the US commitment to regional security. At the same time, this also reflects the US's role in cooperation and collective defense mechanisms with allies.
