Kazakhstan is waiting for an official response from Ukraine regarding attacks on infrastructure of Caspian pipeline Consortium (CPC), TASS quoted Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin as saying on May 21.
"We have forwarded our concerns to Ukraine and are waiting for an answer. Kazakhstan has repeatedly reiterated this issue formally, through the embassy. So far, we have not received any response. And I don't think there will be any response in the near future," said Mr. Rakhmetullin.
CPC is an important oil export pipeline of Kazakhstan to the international market. The pipeline passes through Russia. The pipeline project has shareholders from Russia, the US and Kazakhstan.
On February 17, Ukrainian forces attacked the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station under the CPC system, damaging the facility and requiring a temporary stop for repairs.
Kazakhstan's energy ministry said oil transit would be resumed via a roundabout, avoiding the Kropotkinskaya station.
As of March 24, the Russian Defense Ministry continued to record new attacks from Ukraine on the CPC pipeline system. A Ukrainian drone was shot down, debris dropped near a railway station.
On March 26, Mr. Rakhmetullin affirmed that Kazakhstan had raised concerns about this incident with Ukraine.
